The incident took place at Golden Chokdi last night when Lalchand alias Lalu Sindhi was allegedly kidnapped from his house in Barasiya locality here in a car.
The unknown assailants shot Sindhi with a country made revolver and threw him out of the moving car on the city outskirts, police said.
He was later admitted to a private hospital, where he is undergoing treatment.
Sindhi was recently released after being detained under Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA), police said.
Cops suspect that the attack resulted from rivalry between two groups of boot leggers.
The rival group had suspected Sindhi's involvement in seizure of their stocks recently by police.
