injury when an object given to him by his friend turned out to be a bomb and exploded, police said today.
The boy, a scrap collector, was trying to break open the object when it exploded yesterday, the police said.
The incident took place at High School Junction area.
His friend, also a scrap collector, had found the object from a construction site.
The boy sustained splinters injuries on the belly and upper part of the body, the police said.
He underwent a surgery at a local hospital and was now out of danger.
Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad team rushed to the spot and found 12 similar objects at the construction site.
