They may not have won the match today but the way they fought and pushed Chennai Super Kings to limit, Kolkata Knight Riders have every reason to feel proud of their performance, coach Trevor Bayliss said.
Chasing 201 to win, Kolkata managed 186 for four as Manvinder Bisla batted superbly, scoring 92 runs.
"I must say that we were fantastic on the run chase. Sometimes it happens that at the end we did no have the positive result. In the middle overs we got only one or two or three runs or something like that. To look back when you are chasing two hundred and the chance to win in the last over was a fantastic effort. I think the boys can walkaway from this game with their heads high," Bayliss said.
The Australian said that his side will take a lot of confidence from today's game and may repeat the last year's magic.
"I think we got to win about six of the remaining matches. Last year I think we won six on the trot somewhere. We can play the rest of the games in the fashion that we adapted in our last game. I think we did not play to that level in the first few games. The boys can take lot of positive from the match tonight. They will play with the same confidence like the way they played today in the next few games," he said.
Asked why did not bat first, Bayliss said,"Watching some of the games played here on television we thought the wickets played lot better than last year. CSK and the lot is chasing well. We were really bothered whether we bat second or first. We wanted to try and upset their rhythm to certain degrees.
