The script has been written by Jason Hall ('Paranoia'), while Warner Bros and DreamWorks are co-producing. The film is an adaptation of American Sniper: The Autobiography of the Most Lethal Sniper in US Military History, by Chris Kyle, Scott McEwen and Jim DeFelice.
It follows Kyle's development from a Texas rodeo cowboy to a Navy SEAL chief with the greatest number of sniper kills in US military history, reported Digital Spy.
Cooper's production company optioned the rights to the book in 2012, and the project was subsequently fast-tracked after Kyle was shot and killed on February 2 at a shooting range in Erath County, Texas.
