Akhil Bhartiya Brahmin Mahasabha today threatened to go on a fast-unto death from June 30 if Uttar Pradesh government did not constitute a commission for upper castes as promised in its election manifesto.
After meeting SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, Mahasabha President and SP National Secretary KC Pandey told PTI that he reminded Yadav of his promise and requested him to constitute the 'Savarn Aayog'.
'Savarn Aayog' is a commission to identify the deprived and underprivileged families among upper castes.
"Mahasabha had been supporting SP since 2000 irrespective of the party being in power or not. I reminded Yadav and gave him a letter containing our demand. If it is not met then we will sit on a fast unto death from June 30," Pandey said.
