The assembly would pay homage to former Prime Minister I K Gujral, who died recently, and adjourn for the day.

The session, convened mainly to pass few legislations to replace 26 ordinances which the government promulgated after the previous session of the House, would take up legislative business for six days.

Two days would be devoted to consider private members' bills and motions and one day each for supplementary demands for the current year's budget.

However, the LDF members had already said the issue of rise in prices of commodities, especially rice in the last few days in the state, would be taken up in the assembly along with the the alleged collapse of law and order in the state.

UDF government's decision to transfer as cash the subsidy part of rice distributed through the public distribution system to the APL category, would be discussed in the House as Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had already stated that government was ready to do so in the assembly.

The Opposition had resented government's decision holding that it would undermine the achievements the state had made with the efficient functioning of PDS.

During the session, the Kerala Prohibition of Charging Exorbitant Interest Bill, Kerala Municipality (Amendment) Bill 2012, Kerala Local Self-Government Institutions (Anti-defection) Amendment Bill and Kerala Panchayati Raj (Amendment) would come up for discussion and it would be referred to the subject committee.

The Business Advisory committee, scheduled to meet tomorrow, would finalise the Bills to be taken up for further action, official sources said.

The House would also reconsider the Registration (Kerala Amendment) Bill 2009 that had been returned by the Governor with an amendment note by the President.
