British PM calls Sharif, invites him for Afghan conference

British Prime Minister David Cameron today called his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif and invited him for a key conference on Afghanistan to be held in London in the last week of November.
The conference, co-chaired by Cameron and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani, will serve to reiterate the international community's commitment to the war-torn country.
According to a statement by Prime Minister's Office, the two leaders also discussed matters related to mutual interest.
"As one of Afghanistan's most important neighbours, Pakistan's participation at the highest level would serve to highlight its commitment to peace and stability in Afghanistan," according to the statement.

Sharif's participation in the conference would also enable the two leaders to discuss bilateral Pakistan-UK relations and also provide an opportunity for the Prime Minister to meet the new President of Afghanistan, the statement said.
