Brother of prime accused in murder case held

Police Saturday arrested the brother of the prime accused in a case relating to the killing and burying of a 30-year-old woman after a relationship.

Akhil and Rakhi were in a relationship for over six years and she started troubling him when his family decided to get him married off to another woman.

To stop the pestering, the brothers - Akhil and Rahul - strangulated Rakhi to death and buried the body in the backyard of an under-construction house.

"We have arrested the second accused Rahul, who is the brother of prime accused Akhil V Nair. We are interrogating him. He will be presented before court," an investigating officer told PTI.

Police are still on the lookout for Akhil who was allegedly close to the woman who went missing from here a month ago.

On July 24, the decomposed body of the woman was recovered, police said.

Besides Rahul, a friend Adarsh who was also a suspect in the case has been taken into custody, police said.
