NGO Chetna alleged that BRPL came out with two balance sheets -- one showing profit to get loans from banks and the other reflecting losses to get power tariffs increased by Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission.
A senior official of the BRPL, however, strongly refuted the allegations, terming them as totally baseless.
"The companies need loan from bank and they have to show the public that they are professionally managed company. So they show profit in the balance sheet. And when they go to DERC they show heavy losses so that tariffs can be increased," Chetna president Anil Sood said addressing a press conference.
The BJP has also been alleging the private power distribution companies have fudged their audit report to demand higher tariff. Following BJP's demand, the Delhi Government last year had said that it would like the CAG to scrutinise the accounts of the discoms.
Even the DERC, while announcing the tariff order last year, had favoured a CAG scrutiny of the accounts of the discoms.
"The loss levels disclosed in the director's report are at variance with the loss levels accepted by DERC, which means there is an issue of authenticity of information disclosed in the director's report," said Sood.
