BSE has provided 'XBRL Taxonomies' -- an electronic dictionary for business and financial terms -- in the public domain to help listed companies create their own software for filing of relevant disclosure reports with the stock exchange.
'XBRL Taxonomies' is available in the public domain for 5 reports including shareholding patterns, financial results and corporate governance which are required to be filed by listed companies under the listing regulations.
Besides, the new facility is available for reports on outcome of voting results as well as reconciliation of share capital audit.
The taxonomies consists of a delineation of all the business and financial concepts along with their basic accounting and XBRL properties as well as the inter- relationships amongst the concepts.
"The taxonomies will enable listed companies to develop their own software for creating XBRL files for submission to BSE," the stock exchange said in a statement.
"It may be mentioned here that BSE will continue providing the excel utility for enabling listed companies to file their XBRL filings, as per the present practise and this is only a value addition for those companies which desire to build their own software," it added.
BSE had introduced the globally recognised XBRL based reporting for shareholding pattern and financial results for listed companies, last year.
XBRL is an electronic format for communication of business and financial data.
