BSP MP Rana gets bail

A local court today granted bail to BSP MP Kadir Rana, indicted of giving inflammatory speeches before communal riots broke out here in August.
Chief Judicial Magistrarate KP Singh has allowed Rana's bail on payment of two sureties of Rs 20000 each.
After evading arrest for more than three months, Rana, wanted for his role in Muzaffarnagar communal riots surrendered before a court here yesterday and was sent for a 14-day judicial custody.
Meanwhile, Rana, who was admitted at the Meerut hospital after he fainted in a jail here last night, was refered to Rammanoher Lohiya Hospital in Delhi.
Rana was booked for his alleged hate speech in Khalapar area of the city on August 30, when public gatherings were banned by authorities after three young men were killed due to a communal dispute in Kawal in the district on August 27.
The Lok Sabha MP from Muzaffarnagar had been missing ever since the riots broke out on September 7.
Earlier, the court had issued non-bailable warrants against 16 politicians including the BSP leader.
Rana left the Samajwadi Party in 2007 to join Rashtriya Lok Dal and then switched to BSP in 2009. There are a total of four criminal cases against him, including murder, attempt to murder and robbery.
