Burdwan Dairy to be reopened

The West Bengal government today decided to reopen Burdwan Dairy, which was closed in 2004, and asked the Mother Dairy to take charge of its administration.
The dairy would be reopened with a production target of 20,000 litres per day, Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee said after a meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on industrial infrastructure at which Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present.
State-owned Mother Dairy has been asked to finalise a list of employees at the closed dairy and take action to re-open it and take charge of the administration.
Burdwan Dairy - set up in the early 80s at Burdwan's Nawabnagar - was shut down in 2004. The dairy had about 500 workers.

During its last stages before getting closed, the number of workers went down to almost 50 as production got hit due to several administrative reasons.
