The dairy would be reopened with a production target of 20,000 litres per day, Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee said after a meeting of the cabinet sub-committee on industrial infrastructure at which Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee was present.
State-owned Mother Dairy has been asked to finalise a list of employees at the closed dairy and take action to re-open it and take charge of the administration.
Burdwan Dairy - set up in the early 80s at Burdwan's Nawabnagar - was shut down in 2004. The dairy had about 500 workers.
