Author of Global Conscious Capitalism Movement, Prof Rajendra Sisodia today said that business has a greater role to play towards building a more humane world.
Sisodia said this while making key note address at the 10th lecture of the Odisha Knowledge Hub (ODH) lecture here attended by ministers and bureaucrats.
The doctrines of conscious capitalism should focus on higher purposes beyond mere economic profit and wellbeing of all stake holders not simply more return to just the share holders, he maintained.
"Capitalism has resources, technology, dynamism and wealth. It only needs to be tuned with great wisdoms of humanity for contributing towards human wellbeing," he said adding that conscious leadership and culture of trust and fairness in the business are other doctrines of conscious capitalism.
He recommended that the government should instill these doctrines into the business community by applauding and celebrating the right course of action taken by the industries and business houses.
"The government has to put in place such norms, regulations and facilitating mechanisms that guide and lead the business community for contributing towards a more humane society," Sisodia said.
Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Odisha's Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan said that Prof Sisodia lighted upon the new concept of conscious capitalism.
