allegedly committed suicide by slitting his wrist with a surgical blade as he was depressed due to his failure to repay loans, in Indian Agricultural Research Institute here, police said today.
Hemant Dhall was found dead in his car yesterday at the Institute in Inderpuri and a two-page suicide note was found near his body, they said.
Dhall was allegedly in an inebriated state when he took the extreme step, police said.
He had two showrooms in Patel Nagar here and was also planning to open a third one, his fellow shopkeepers told police.
In his purported suicide note, Dhall wrote that he had taken many loans and was not able to repay them. He apologised to his family for leaving behind the loans for them to pay, they said.
Police are also questioning security guards at the institute, located on Pusa road, to know whether Dhall was accompanied by anyone.
