Arunachal Pradesh Home Minister Tanga Byaling today admitted rise in crime in the state and urged the civil society to cooperate with the government in curbing crimes.
"Government cannot provide security to each and every individual. The people should cooperate with government by sharing information on any crime so that law and order could be improved in the state," Byaling told reporters here.
Referring to the abduction of K P Chacko, a trader from Naharlagun on August 28 last, Byaling disclosed that the police were on the job for his search.
"If police did not launch search operation immediately, then how Chacko's Manager was released by the abductors?" the home minister asked.
To a query regarding the August 30 incident where three undertrial prisoners escaped from Chongkham police outpost, Byaling disclosed that the state government would soon constitute a committee to probe into the incident and if any official was found of dereliction of duty, appropriate action would be taken.
Meanwhile, Usha Chacko, wife of the abducted trader who arrived here from her native state Kerala along with her two daughters, appealed to the abductors to release her husband without any conditions.
"My husband is a diabetic patient with high blood pressure. I request all those who are involved in his kidnapping to release him immediately keeping in view of his health condition," she said.
"He was a sober business man without ill feelings to others. He did nothing wrong in his business nor posed as a contender for others," comments K P Pothen, elder brother of the victim.
"Certain clues are being unearthed but police are not in a position to disclose. Police forces are on extensive search operation putting their best efforts. We are hopeful to nab the culprits at the earliest," Capital SP Seiju P Kuruvilla said.
Kuruvilla also revealed that police were clueless on the identity of the abductors.
