Health and Family Welfare Minister Ajay Chandrakar, during a meeting with senior department officials, yesterday directed to prepare an action plan for prohibiting sale of tobacco, a government official said here today.
The state government has already banned tobacco-based 'gutkha' and 'pan masala' products and is now contemplating to completely ban tobacco.
According to the official, during the meeting, Chandrakar said that keeping in view the public interest, there needs to be a serious thinking on banning tobacco-based products in the state.
The minister also asked the officials to ensure that as per the earlier order to ban tobacco-based products, there should be no sale of tobacco based 'gutkha' and 'pan masala' in the state, he said.
