A cable operator, prime witness in the 2003 Amritsar sex racket case, today attempted suicide in the presence of judges who were listening to complaints outside the court premises here.
Jaswinder Singh Jassi consumed some poisonous substance at a seminar hall of a hotel room where Chairman and a member of Telcom Dispute settlement Appellate Tribunal (TDSAT) along with other judges were present.
Jassi is battling for life.
A suicide note in Punjabi, presumably in Jassi's own handwriting, having his signatures, thumb impression and even the stamp of his firm has been recovered from his possession, police said.
In his suicide note, Jassi has said that he was being exploited by cable trade big-wigs and they had taken over most of the part of his business due to which his wife also suffered attack of paralysis.
