Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi today said CAG reports must not be used as a weapon to target political opponents.
Modi said this in a farewell speech in the Gujarat Assembly before resigning as Chief Minister after being appointed as prime minister.
"I personally believe that CAG reports must not be used for political gains but utilised to find solutions. I introduced such a system here and asked my men to go to the roots of problems (mentioned in CAG reports)," he said.
During the course of the Lok Sabha poll campaign, Modi had said that he did not believe in politics of vendetta and witch-hunting of which he had been a "victim" for the last ten years.
Modi was responding to a question during an interview with PTI on how allegations against Robert Vadra would be dealt with in the event of the BJP coming to power.
During his farewell speech, Modi said he was always of the opinion that an MLA is supreme in democracy, no matter which party he represents.
Opposition BJP had raked up the CAG reports on 2G spectrum and Coal scams to repeatedly slam the UPA government.
