Cambridge appoints Ruchira Ghosh Regional Director South Asia

Cambridge International Examinations today appointed Ruchira Ghosh as its Regional Director for South Asia, in line with its international expansion plans.
Prior to joining Cambridge International Examinations, , the world leader in providing global programmes and qualifications for school education, Ruchira was Head of Business Development - Schools at the British Council in India, where she served for 12 years, Cambridge International said in a release issued here.
Based in Mumbai, Ghosh will initially focus on expanding the team to support the growing popularity of Cambridge programmes and qualifications across India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
There are currently more than 400 Cambridge schools in South Asia and the team, which will be based across the region, works in collaboration with governments and schools as well as other key stakeholders.
Meanwhile, Cambridge International said that 31 Indian students have scored the highest marks in the world for single subjects in the November 2013 and May 2014 examinations series.
Of the world toppers, half (15 students) got their topper awards for outstanding performance in mathematics.
The other students excelled in a wide range of subjects including English, information communication and technology, biology, besides economics.
The world toppers outperformed thousands of candidates globally in Cambridge IGCSE, Cambridge International AS Level and Cambridge International 'A' Level exams.
