British Prime Minister David Cameron will meet French President Francois Hollande in Paris on Monday to discuss counter-terror cooperation and fight against ISIS in the wake of last week's attacks in the French capital.
"The Prime Minister will travel to Paris on Monday morning for talks with President Hollande at the Elysee. They are expected to focus on counter-terrorism cooperation and the fight against ISIL in Syria and Iraq," a 10 Downing Street spokesperson said. Today.
The meeting will begin a week of diplomacy in which Hollande will meet Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and US President Barack Obama.
A French-drafted UN document asking countries to "combat by all means this unprecedented threat" from ISIS received universal approval last night.
Meanwhile, some British media reports claim the UK may be poised to join the strikes after 60 MPs from the Opposition Labour party plan to defy their party leader Jeremy Corbyn.
Labour insiders said that the UN resolution, reinforced by last night's vote, is likely to be enough to convince as many as 60 Labour MPs of the need to extend RAF air strikes to Syria - something which would boost Cameron's chances of passing a vote in the Commons.
Shadow foreign secretary Hilary Benn, who is viewed by some within the party as a potential replacement for Corbyn as Labour leader, welcomed the resolution.
The Islamic State terror group (also known as ISIS or ISIL) has claimed responsibility for the November 13 attacks on a stadium, a concert hall and Paris cafes in France that left over 120 people dead.
In Lebanon's capital Beirut, at least 41 people were killed and over 100 injured in twin suicide attacks on November 12. It was also claimed by ISIS.
