Over 40,000 people have died due to encephalitis in the division in the last four decades.
Divisional Commissioner Anil Kumar today said students in shcools will be told about the importance of cleanliness and steps to prevent encephalitis.
"They will also be informed about vaccines," Kumar said.
For rural areas, he said, a campaign will be run and 'chaupal' will be held to make people aware of the disease and rallies will also be taken out all over the division.
"During the campaign people will be administered an oath of cleanliness while from May 24 a vaccination campaign will also be started that will continue till June 6.
"Over 2.35 lakh children identified earlier will be administered vaccines on priority," he added.
Gorakhpur is the parliamentary constituency of chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
