Cannot differentiate between janata curfew and bandh: WB govt

With the GJM holding a two-day 'janata curfew' in the Darjeeling hills from today, the West Bengal government said they saw little difference between it and a shut down, apparently hinting that the hill party was disobeying court orders.
GJM President Bimal Gurung, meanwhile, called into question the existence of the hill council Gorkha Territorial Administration, set up under a tripartite agreement and said "Now there is no turning back to GTA. Gorkhaland is our final mission. We will get it this time as we have the entire hill parties with us," he said in a post on social networking website Facebook.

"No more GTA, our aim is Gorkhaland. All party to decide soon. I have resigned as chief executive of GTA," Gurung wrote going back on the decision to elect a new CEO on August 16.
"The state has given us a letter to choose a chief executive in 3 days otherwise the Government will appoint their own Chief Executive," Gurung said about the post of CEO from which he had resigned on July 30, which was followed by the indefinite shutdown from August three.
"Do we want a Chief Executive of GTA to be from the state or someone from our own community?" he asked, adding "the issue of GTA and its chief executive is only for a limited period as our final goal is Gorkhaland."

"The agitation will continue from August 19," Gurung said without specifying what the agitation would be or whether the indefinite bandh which entered the 11th day, would continue.
"We will let the people know our plans on the 16th," he said.
Home Secretary Banerjee said in Siliguri "I cannot make any difference between a bandh and what is going on. It cannot be distinguished.
