District Forest Officer of Sathyamangalam Tiger Reserve Rajkumar said forest officials on patrol duty yesterday found the carcass of a 15-year-old tusker at Varakombai in the Sikkarasampalayam forest range.
He said the carcass of a 20-year-old female elephant was found about 500 metres from the place and a veterinarian declared that both animals died of ailments.
Officials said there was no foul play in the death of the two elephants.
The carcasses were buried in the nearby area.
