"Such cases are investigated thoroughly with sensitivity and immediate action is taken," Haryana's Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), (Law and Order), Mohammad Akil said.
The alleged custodial death of a 15-year-old Dalit boy in Gohana in Sonepat district is investigated by the Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Police Department, he said.
The case was registered on the basis of a written statement by the family of the victim, he added.
The ADGP also said that 403 cases have been registered this year so far under the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
In a reference to various cases including from Sunped in Faridabad, Gohana and Yamunanagar, he said that all such cases that have been reported recently were not related to conflict between upper and lower classes.
