Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), probing the cash-for-vote case, today questioned TDP MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah after taking him into custody.
A local court had yesterday granted ACB two-day (July 9-10) custody of Veeraiah who was arrested on last Monday in connection with the cash-for-vote case.
The anti-graft agency's sleuths picked up Veeraiah from the Cherlapalli Central Prison, where he is lodged, and took him to ACB headquarters at Banjara Hills and questioned him as part of investigations into the case.
No further details were available.
The legislator from Sattupally in Khammam district allegedly made several calls to co-accused before contacting nominated MLA Elvis Stephenson for securing support for a TDP candidate in the run-up to the MLC polls. Veeraiah was given the responsibility of bribing Stephenson, according to ACB remand case diary.
Meanwhile, the bail application of Veeraiah was posted to July 13 for hearing by a local court.
He is the second politician to be arrested in the scandal. Earlier, TDP MLA and party's deputy floor leader in Telangana Assembly, A Revanth Reddy - the prime accused in the case - was taken into custody.
On May 31, Revanth and two others were arrested by ACB while allegedly paying a bribe of Rs 50 lakh to Stephenson to secure his support for TDP nominee Vem Narendar Reddy in the next day's Legislative Council election. The trio got bail from the High Court last month.
