Cattle smuggling bid foiled, 1 arrested

Police today claimed to have foiled a cattle smuggling attempt by arresting one person and rescuing eight animals in Reasi district of Jammu region.
On a specific input, a police team set up a check point at Barmidhar in Mahore tehsil of Reasi district and rescued eight bovines that were being illegally smuggled by a man to Kashmir via Nikkin Gali, said SSP Reasi Sujit Kumar.
The accused has been identified as Gulla Bhat, a resident of South Kashmir's Kulgam district, he said.
He has been booked under various sections of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC), and further investigations are going on, he added.
