A decoy of the CB-CID (Anti trafficking cell) posed as a customer and approached pimps Elangovan and Krishnaveni in a hotel here.
Elangovan demanded Rs 5,000 from the decoy to send the minor girl with him for prostitution.
The duo were arrested and the minor girl was rescued.
Probe revealed that the victim had lost her mother last year. Her father is a daily wage labourer who stays at platforms near Moore Market here along with her younger brother.
The victim has been sent to a protection home for rehabilitation. The accused persons have been remanded to judicial custody.
Cases under various sections of the IPC, Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act and POCSO Act has been registered and further probe is on into the illegal prostitution ring.
