CBI arrests Delhi Police SI on bribery charges

CBI has arrested a sub-inspector of Delhi Police posted at police station in the diplomatic area of Chanakya Puri for allegedly demanding and accepting bribe from a person after threatening to implicate him in a case.
Daya Ram, a sub-inspector (SI) posted at Chanakya Puri police station, was arrested for accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant.
"A case was registered on a complaint alleging that the sub-inspector had demanded an amount of Rs 4 lakh from the complainant for not falsely implicating him in a case being investigated by the police officer," a CBI spokesperson said here today.
The spokesperson said the agency laid a trap and the sub-inspector was caught red-handed while accepting Rs 50,000 from the complainant yesterday evening near Gurudwara Moti Bagh here.
"Searches were conducted at the residential premises of the sub-inspector," the spokesperson added.
