CBI has started probe into alleged murder of a Medical student who was found dead in mysterious circumstances at a ground close to the girls' hostel at Teerthanker Mahaveer University in Moradabad.
The agency has registered a case of alleged murder on the request of the Uttar Pradesh government.
"It was alleged that Neeraj Bhadana, a medico student of MBBS (first year) of a University in Moradabad was found dead on July 6, 2013 on the ground opposite her hostel veranda," CBI spokesperson Kanchan Prasad said here today.
She said parents of the deceased were informed at 8.30 PM on July 6, 2013 about her sickness and at 12.30 midnight about her death when they were on way to Moradabad.
"The case was lodged on the basis of a complaint from the father of the deceased alleging that the body of Neeraj Bhadana had nail scratch marks on the face, neck, hand and upper body and marks of beating on the legs and waist," she said.
Hailing from Faridabad in Haryana, Bhadana was the first-year MBBS student at the University.
The police intially worked on the theory of suicide but the post-mortem revealed that death was due to strangulation which led to case of murder.
CBI sources said they would soon call University authorities for questioning and would also meet the doctors who carried out the autopsy of Bhadana.
