A proposal by the Ministry of Shipping is based on the report of Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture.
"The technical know how and the experience of the employees of the CIWTC and its existing infrastructure be effectively utilised by IWAI," the committee had said.
"We hope that in the next CCEA meeting this proposal is cleared," a Shipping Ministry official told PTI.
CIWTC is presently engaged in transportation of cargo through Inland Waterways, operational repair of IWT (Inland Waterways Transport) vessels and operation and maintenance of four major and many minor terminals.
