Central schemes in sync with Upadhyay's vision: Rawat

Describing Bharatiya Jana Sangh co-founder Deen Dayal Upadhyaya as a man who believed that the poor had the first right on the resources of the society, Uttara Khand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat Tuesday said by according top priority to the interest of the deprived sections in central schemes Prime Minister Narendra Modi was being true to his vision.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the successor party of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, is organising programmes across the country to mark his birth anniversary.

Upadhyaya was born on this day in 1916 in Mathura and was an RSS pracharak.

"Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay was himself a highly talented man born into a poor family who believed that the poor had the first right on the resources of the society. His vision is reflected in schemes launched by the Narendra Modi government which are centred around people living in penury," Rawat saidat a function held at an ashram for lepers here to mark Upadhyaya's birth anniversary.

Citing the instances of Ayushman Bharat Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana and other schemes like doubling the income of farmers or providing a house to every poor by 2022, Rawat said all these schemes were designed to benefit the poor and take development to everyone.

He also distributed free LPG connections on the occasion among eligible beneficiaries.

Under the Atal Ayushman Yojana the state government will soon be giving health insurance coverage to 22.5 lakh families of the state, the Chief Minister added.
