A central government team is currently visiting Arunachal Pradesh to assess the damage caused by natural calamities like floods and landslides in the state this year, an official release said here today.
The eight-member team headed by Home Ministry Joint Secretary Shambu Singh would conduct aerial and field survey of flood affected areas of the state in their four-day visit that started yesterday.
Chief Minister Nabam Tuki, during a meeting with the team members yesterday, requested them to arrange for rebuilding of the destroyed infrastructure and repair of the damaged ones.
Tuki informed the team that the state's problems were not properly highlighted in the media due to its inaccessible geographical terrains, the release said.
Tuki asked the team to consider a fund for maintenance of highways in the flood prone state.
He also sought enhancement of the relief amount considering the magnitude of losses incurred by the state and its people.
Later, the team members met state officers where they were briefed about the quantum of losses due to the natural calamities through power point presentation, the release said.
In a memorandum submitted to the team, the state government has projected Rs 2,329.25 crore loss incurred due to the natural catastrophe this year.
