Central team visits drought-hit areas in Wayanad district

A team of central government officials led by Ashwin Kumar, Agriculture Ministry Joint Secretary, today visited various places in the district to study the drought like situation in the region.
The four-member team visited the drought-hit areas, including Vandikadavu and Kolavally in Ullankolli gram panchayat and Ereyiapalli in Pulpalli gram panchayat.
Earlier, a team of officials led by District Collector B S Thirumeni explained the plight of the farmers due to the drought.
The team would submit their report to the Centre after discussing the issue with the senior officials of various departments in Thiruvanananthapuram tomorrow.
