The Centre today announced a Tablet each to 400 youths of Jammu and Kashmir who have been trained under 'Himayat' and have completed one year of service in the companies where they were engaged under the flagship scheme.
"A Tablet each will be given to 400 youths who have completed one year of service in the companies they were engaged under Himayat," said Union Minister for Rural Development Jairam Ramesh, during the Valedictory Function organised at Jammu University to hand over offer letters to people who have successfully completed training under the Himayat scheme.
The Minister also informed that the relocation allowance given to candidates placed under the scheme, has been increased to Rs 2,000 from the existing Rs 1,000 for a period of six months.
The scheme launched in the state in 2011 is moving ahead to realise the set goal of providing training and jobs to one lakh youth of Jammu and Kashmir, mostly school drop-outs and lesser qualified during the five year period, he said.
"Over 5,000 youth have been provided jobs in various companies within and outside the state since the inception of the scheme in Jammu and Kashmir and over 15,000 will be given training and placements during 2013-14," Ramesh said.
