Taking on the two governments, Leader of Opposition in NDMC Mukesh Goel also alleged that "in this difficult time, instead of taking measures to resolve the issue, the Union Government and the Delhi government are busy blaming each other for the situation."
The three civic bodies, NDMC and South Delhi Municipal Corporation (SDMC) and East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC) have run into financial rough weather, with both NDMC and EDMC suffering losses while only SDMC manging itself to keep out of the red.
He said that the "corporations were receiving significant amount of grants till the time the Congress was in power in Delhi."
He said "the funds for unauthorised colonies, JJ clusters, education, sanitation, urban roads etc have also been reduced".
Goel claimed "the funds to be received by the corporations for cleaning and covering of drains have been reduced from Rs 35 crore in 2012-13 to Rs 1 crore for the year 2014-15."
He also claimed that the funds to be given to "SDMC under this head have been reduced from Rs 60 crore in 2012-13 to Rs 22.50 crore."
He even suggested that the mayors of all three corporations should approach the Union Finance Minister to increase the global share of the civic bodies.
While the three corporations have been trying to look out for avenues for funding, the AAP government has denied any financial aid to the three municipal bodies.
