Centre increases K-oil quote for JK

A day after Jammu and Kashmir governor NN Vohra ordered a probe into the shortage of kerosene oil in the Kashmir valley, the Union government today increased the quota for the state by over 45 lakh litre.
"The Union Ministry of Petroleum and Natural gas, has increased Kerosene oil allocation for the fourth quarter (January-March, 2015) for the State of Jammu and Kashmir," an official Raj Bhawan spokesman said.
He said that the allocation has been increased by 45,12,000 litres following the governor's request to the Petroleum ministry in this regard.
"The governor has already directed the Divisional Commissioners Kashmir and Jammu to closely monitor both the availability and the prices of all essential commodities, including Kerosene oil, so that no hardship is caused to the consumers," he said.

Yesterday, JK Governor had ordered probe into shortage of kerosene oil in Kashmir Valley following complaints into the matter.
Also, senior PDP MP Tariq Hameed Karra had sought Union Petroleum Minister's personal intervention into immediate withdrawal of Centre's decision to reduce kerosene quota to Kashmir.
