The Bihar government today accused the Centre of supplying "defective" wheat to the state and instructed its officials to return the supply.
Bihar food minister Shyam Rajak alleged by supplying wheat damaged in recent hailstorm in other parts of the country to the state, the Centre was trying to "put the blame on our head."
Union Food minister Ramvilas Paswan hails from Bihar.
During a review meeting of the department, he directed district supply officers to return consignment of such damaged wheat supplied by FCI, a food department statement said.
The minister issued the instruction in view of complaints pouring in from different districts regarding supply of damaged wheat.
Rajak directed officials to provide reports on the quality of foodgrain provided by Food Corporation of India to the state headquarters.
"In no case the government will allow damaged foodgrain to the poor," he said.
The minister instructed officials to keep a tab over distribution of foodgrain under the PDS with the help of GPS tracking system and ordered auditing of godowns of the State Food Corporation.
On complaints of black marketing of LPG cylinders, the minister ordered to conduct raids by forming team at sub division levels.
