Union Water Resources Minister Uma Bharati, who met Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi at Patna, informed the Chief Minister that the Centre is active to start dredging of river Ganga in Patna and work will soon start so as to restore the flow of the river along its banks in Patna, a press release here said.
In order to bring down pollution in river Ganga, her ministry has sanctioned a Rs. 558 crore project to construct one each STP and sewage network at Beoor and Kamaali Chak in Bihar. The Minister also informed that for a STP & sewage network in Saidpur, Rs. 453.56 crore has been sanctioned at the central level, the release added.
While the estimated cost of Boodhi Gandak -Noon Bayaa link is Rs. 4214 crore, the Kosi-Mechi link is estimated at Rs. 2903 crore and the estimated cost of Sakaree-Naata link is Rs. 572 crore.
Stressing the need for a project that would reduce floods in river Kosi in north Bihar and providing water to the southern part of the state, the Minister extended full support for the purpose.
The Minister assured that the problem of pollution in Falgu river in the holy city of Gaya will be addressed, the release added.
