"We demand an impartial and high-level probe into the killing of the CEO of the Jute Mill in Hooghly yesterday. The truth should come out," state Congress leader and MLA Manas Bhuniya said here.
Six workers of the Northbrook Jute Co Ltd were arrested for their involvement in the killing of its CEO H K Maheswari with the management putting up a suspension of work notice today citing labour unrest.
"The owner of the Mill is saying that the workers are not involved in the incident. A probe should be done looking into all aspects," Bhuniya said.
Maheswari (60) was beaten up by agitated factory workers inside the Mill premises at Bhadreswar in Hooghly yesterday when he rejected their demand for an increase in the weekly working hours so that they were paid more. He died later.
