CFSI to host Children Film Festival in Meghalaya

The Children's Film Society India (CFSI) will be hosting 'Meghalaya Film Festival for Children' to sensitise the children of the state through meaningful films made by CFSI.
The festival will run for the next 20 days and conclude on September 22.
This is one of the most successful experiments to connect the remotely-living children with the mainstream cinema, officials said.
The event will be flagged off tomorrow at Soso Tham Auditorium, State Central Library, Shillong.
"CFSI has in the past conducted state level Children's Film Festivals every year in collaboration with state government authorities and NGOs. In this financial year of 2015-16, the festival will be conducted in Assam, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya during the month of September and more than 20,000 expected children audience will be covered through 50 shows," Shravan Kumar, CEO, CFSI said.
He said that it was hoped that CFSI's films will become available for more and more children in the coming days through these kind of initiatives.
A total of 10 award-winning children films will be screened during the festival in different cities of Meghalaya like Shillong, Tura, Nongpoh, Nongstoin and Jowai.
The films to be screened include National award winning film Kaphal, Gattu, Pappu Ki Pugdandi, The world of Goopi and Bagha, The prince and the Crown of stone, Kris Trish and Baltiboy, Harun Arun, Keshu, Puttani party, Photo, among others.
In the year 2013-14, the festival was conducted in all the 8 north-eastern states at 45 centres where more than 90,000 child audience was covered through 300 shows and in the following year, the festival covered all the 8 states at 17 places, reaching out to another 25,000 audience through 55 shows.
CFSI chairman Mukesh Khanna extended his best wishes to the children of North Eastern India.
"I wish CFSI success in its endeavors to reach out to children of Meghalaya and North East," Khanna said.
