Chain snatching gang attacks police, 4 women cops injured

Four women police personnel were injured when a group of people, allegedly involved in chain snatchings in Kalyan here, attacked them, police said today.
An anti-chain snatching squad in Kalyan had on May 11 apprehended some accused of a gang called Irani gang, involved in chain snatchings in the area, and based on a tip off, some more members were suppose to arrive at a hotel in Ambivili here.
Accordingly, the squad, comprising 20-25 personnel, reached the hotel where the members of Irani gang were supposed to come, sub-inspector Nisha Chowdhary, a part of the squad, said.
When police reached the hotel, miscreants who were armed with sticks, swords and stones attacked them in which four women constable were injured.

The three members of the gang managed to escape and were identified as Marian Bulldozer, Jainav and Jainab Nasser Irani.
An offence has been lodged under relevant sections of IPC, Arms Act.
