Chana prices rose by 0.75 per cent to Rs 3,084 per quintal in futures trade today as traders enlarged their holdings on account of good demand in the spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for May delivery rose by Rs 23, or 0.75 per cent, to Rs 3,084 per quintal, with an open interest for 31,100 lots.
Similarly, chana for delivery in April increased by Rs 21, or 0.69 per cent, to Rs 3,042 per quintal, with an open interest of 81,800 lots.
Traders said rising spot demand mainly influenced chana prices at futures trade but rising supplies from the new season crop, limited the gains.
