Chana prices gained 1.15% to Rs 3,603 per quintal in futures market today as speculators enlarged positions amid pick-up in demand in spot market against tight supplies.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, chana for delivery in April shot up by Rs 41, or 1.15%, to Rs 3,603 per quintal with an open interest of 82,330 lots.

Similarly, the commodity for delivery in February traded higher by Rs 19, or 0.54%, to Rs 3,522 per quintal in 1,10,330 lots.

Analysts said apart from pick-up in demand in the spot market, tight stocks position on restricted supplies from producing belts led to the rise in chana prices at futures trade.
