"Keeping in view of the problems faced by general public of Chandigarh after demonetisation of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, the Chandigarh Administration has decided to designate a Helpline number 1860-180-2067 to answer the concerns/queries of the general public relating to availability/withdrawal of currency from the ATM's/ banks," said an official spokesman.
It has come to the notice that many bank officials are refusing to exchange the currency as many people do not have banks accounts in concerned branches, spokesman said.
If any bank refuses to exchange the currency, they can contact the helpline number and necessary help will be provided immediately.
The helpline number will work from 8 am to 8 pm from Monday to Saturday, he said.
