The six officials of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) have been accused of embezzlement of huge quantity of food grains in the state in during 2008-09.
"A case was registered on the recommendation of a committee of officers constituted by the state government regarding embezzlement of huge quantity of food grains," a crime branch official said.
As per the preliminary enquiry report of the committee, huge embezzlement of foodgrains was done by the staff of CA&PD department by showing fictitious dispatches from Vailoo and Inshan Guzar godowns during the financial year 2008-09, officials said.
The total embezzled amount put by the committee was around Rs 30.57 lakh.
The department was supplying the ration to general public under APL (Above Poverty Line), BPL (Below Poverty Line), Antodaya (for widows, disabled, landless and poorest of the poor people) and Annapurana (for orphans and destitute).
The special anti-corruption court gave December 24 as the next date of hearing.
