Maharashtra Congress chief Ashok Chavan asked Saturday Bharipa Bahujan Mahasangh (BBM) leader Prakash Ambedkar not to rush through an alliance with the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM).
The BBM and Asaduddin Owaisi-led AIMIM announced earlier in the day that they will form alliance for the 2019 Lok Sabha and Maharashtra Assembly elections.
Talking to reporters here, Chavan said the Congress and NCP wanted to form a grand alliance of like-minded secular parties to take on the BJP and Shiv Sena.
"We want to include Ambedkar in the coalition. He shouldn't rush through an alliance with AIMIM," he added.
