A case of cheating was registered against actress Shruti Haasan for allegedly reneging on the contractual obligations and pulling out of an upcoming bilingual film, police said today.
The case seeking criminal investigations against the actress was filed by the Picture House Media Ltd which alleged in its petition that the actress missed her shooting schedules for the untitled multi-starrer being directed by Vamsi Paidipalli.
After registering the case against Shruti last night on the directive of a local court, the Banjara Hills police station today transferred it to Jubille Hills police station on the point of jurisdiction, police inspector Santosh said.
A criminal court at Nampally Court Complex had earlier referred the petition against Shruti to police.
"As part of investigation into the case, we have recorded the statement of the petitioner and we will verify the documents before questioning the actress," the police officer said.
The XXV Additional Chief Judge at city civil court had on March 25 passed an interim injunction order restraining the 29-year-old actress from accepting any assignment to act in a feature film before completion of shooting of the movie, being produced by Picture House Media Ltd, till April 8.
Shruti, daughter of actor couple Kamal Haasan and Sarika, has acted in a number of Tamil and Telugu-language films.
She had won the Filmfare award for best female debut - South for Telugu film 'Anaganaga O Dheerudu' and for Tamil film '7aum Arivu'. Her Bollywood projects included 'Luck', 'Dil To Bachha Hai Ji', 'Ramayya Vasthavayya', 'D Day' to name a few.
