A police jawan allegedly killed himself by jumping in front of a moving train in Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, police said today.
The incident occurred near Kirodimal Nagar on Howrah-Mumbai rail route late last night, said Raigarh Additional Superintendent of Police Harish Rathore.
The deceased, identified as constable Ravi Kumar Dhruv, hailed from Pipariya village in Kawardha district of the state, he said.
Dhruv, who was earlier posted in Raigarh police line, was shifted to Tamnar police station four months back, but was yet to report to the duty, the ASP said.
Police found his motorcycle parked on the road close to the spot, he said.
The exact reason behind Dhruv's act is yet to be ascertained, the ASP said, adding that no suicide note was found at the spot.
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway.
