Constable Pawan Rai (28), posted with the 'A' company of the 12th battalion of the CAF fired at himself with his service weapon this evening, Raipur Additional Superintendent of Police Pankaj Chandra said.
Hearing the gunshot, his colleagues rushed towards the spot and too him to a local private hospital where he is undergoing treatment, he said.
He received injuries in his abdomen.
Prima facie investigations revealed that the constable tried to kill himself, but the reason is yet to be ascertained he said.
