Chhattisgarh: Security stepped up for Republic Day

Securityhas been beefed upin Chhattisgarh especially in those areas hit by Maoist menace in view of theRepublicDay celebrationtomorrow, police said.
Tightsecurityis being maintained in the state particularly in the Naxal-affected Bastar region to avoid any disturbances by Maoists during R-Daycelebrations, Special Director General of Police (anti-Naxal operations) DM Awasthi told PTI.
Armed guards have been deployed at all the important government establishments. Additionalsecurityarrangements have been made at the headquarters of each of the districts of Bastar division comprising Sukma, Dantewada, Bijapur, Narayanpur, Kondagaon, Kanker and Bastar, the SDGP said.
Besides, patrolling has been intensified in the interior forest pockets and inter-state borders to check suspicious movements, he added.
Meanwhile, the Chhattisgarh government has accomplished all the preparations in all the 27 districts including capital Raipur to observeRepublicDay.
Governor Balramji Das Tandon will hoist the national flag in the morning at the Police Parade ground in Raipur and receive the guard of honour by different units ofsecuritypersonnel, an official statement here said.
He will take salute of State Police, Chhattisgarh Armed Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Home guards, District Police Force, Jail Security jawans, NCC cadets and National Social Service students.
Subsequently, the Govenor will address the state on the occasion followed by presentation of cultural programmes based on patriotic songs by students and tableaux of various departments, it added.
Chief Minister Raman Singh will unfurl the tricolourat Bastar district's head-quarters town Jagdalpur and Vidhan Sabha Speaker Gaurishankar Agrawal at Balodabazar district.
Besides, other ministers will take part in Republic Daycelebrationsto be held at different places in the state, said the statement.
